I really do love DriverCure because it's so easy to use - you don't have to be some kind of computer guru to get just what you need!

Plug and play? Not even close. I spent a lot of time trying to get my new, so-called 'plug and play' scanner to work. I was about ready to take it back. ParetoLogic DriverCure got it working and saved me a needless trip (and gas!!) back to the store.

I have to admit I'm no computer geek. When something goes wrong, I usually have to call someone to fix it and it costs me a lot of money. When my printer wouldn't work, a friend of mine suggested I try ParetoLogic DriverCure a try. I figured it was worth a shot because I was going to have to pay for a geek anyway. I was so happy when it worked... and worked properly!

I figured the graphics card my grandson gave me was broken when I couldn't get it work on my computer. It turns out that I just didn't have the right driver. ParetoLogic DriverCure got it workin.

The Matroska Video Codec is prized among the casual video crowd for it's versatility. Although it lacks the professional qualities found in DVD and BluRay formats, it makes up for these shortcomings by giving the video's creator the ability to make a great number of changes, modifications and enhancements. Indeed, many digital video enthusiasts see it as the optimal way to encode a video for digital viewing. As previously mentioned, Matroska permits the encoder to install multiple videos into a single file as well as multiple dubs or subtitles, so that the viewer may find a language for the video they understand. Matroska also allows for chapters, permits an assortment of decoders, and much more. As such, those who download a lot of digital content will often find themselves in posession of Matroska videos with the .mkv extension on them.

More Info Regarding File Extension MKV
However, because Matroska is not widely used or accepted among mainstream developers (most notably because it offers no copy protection) most users find that when they attempt to open a Matroska video file, it does not load. This is because they do not have the Matroska codec installed. To solve this problem, it is necessary to go to http://www.matroska.org/ and download and install the relevant files. The Matroska codec exists for almost all media players, and persons who use Quicktime or Windows Media Player can quickly begin opening Matroska files and playing them.
Many users prefer having a media player designed with the Matroska files in mind, however, and the best option for them is VLC media player. The VLC Media Player (available for free at www.videolan.org/vlc/) is not designed with Matroska in mind, but it comes with the Matroska video codec already installed and tested. This means that VLC will be able to play Matroska video files "right out of the box," so to speak, and also that it is designed to handle the various nuances and shortcomings inherent in Matroska files. This is especially key when dealing with Matroska files created by amateurs, who may unintentionally create errors which VLC is able to solve.
Matroska is a very popular codec and is increasingly being used among the casual crowd. It's ability to encode multiple dubs and subtitles has made it omnipresent among the anime community, but it is also gaining wider recognition among the foreign film crowd, for much the same reason. However, very few artists and developers choose Matroska as a preferred codec for their digital works, and as such much of what is found in the Matroska codec has been pirated. Still, it's widespread use and recognition mean that many users are coming across it more and more often, and are finding themselves unable to open such a file. Luckily, installing the Matroska codec almost always solves the problem. If not, then the Matroska user forums can usually help a user to ferret out a good answer as to why they cannot open the file.
One last problem with Matroska's .mkv files is common to all users, and is actually a common problem with unknown file extensions. Often, a user will simply try to "brute force" a file they cannot open by having programs they know and use regularly attempt to open it. For example, they might attempt to have Windows Media Player open the file even though they have not installed the Matroska Codec, because they know that the .mkv file is a video file. This can present a problem if another piece of software is installed to open the file, since Windows may not automatically associate the file with the new software. This can easily be fixed by right-clicking on the .mkv file and selecting the "properties" tab. From the "Properties" menu it is possible to associate the .mkv file with the proper software to open it.
